erica’s things

  • Coming late to Mary McCarthy’s The Group, a 50-year-old novel about a posse of besties from Vassar class of ‘33 and their post-college days in NYC that’s so a precursor to Sex and the City and Girls.

  • Tossing some gluten-free pizzas on the grill: This dough is where it’s at (and, if you ask me, pineapples and pepperoncini make great, if controversial, toppings).

  • Finding some unlikely elegance in New York’s litter-strewn everything. Behold, the Periodic Table of NYC Trash.

  • Remembering all the words to a song of the summer of 1996...that has very much earned a revival two decades (!!!) later, courtesy of Betty Who.

  • Shoving some watermelon in a blender, straining it into a juice, mixing it with tequila and lime, and calling it a cocktail.

  • Slipping one of these into my carry-on as a hostess gift...and treating myself to nice-smelling luggage as an added bonus.
